The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal organization. It was founded by Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven Connecticut in 1882 and named in the honor of the navigator Christopher Columbus. Originally serving as a mutual benefit society to low-income immigrant Catholics, it has developed into a fraternal service dedicated to providing charitable services to the communities that they serve.

There are more than 1.8 million members in 15,000 councils, with nearly 200 councils on college campuses. Membership is limited to "practical Catholic" men aged 18 or older. Those interested in joining should send an email to Steve Petraske.

Council 3716 serves the communities of Scituate, Norwell and Cohasset. The Council meets the second Thursday of every month at 7 PM at the Council Hall with a pre-meeting dinner being served at 6 PM.
